We had a company outing on Friday, August 21, to enjoy some end-of-summer sunshine and friendly competition on the softball field, in addition to finally getting to celebrate our recent Small Agency of the Year win as a full group. It was a gorgeous, cloudless day to be out on the field at Waveland on Lake Shore Drive. (No, we didn’t bring the Agency of the Year cup with us to the field.)
OKRP was split into two teams, Team Whiskey and Team Bananas, to honor our company icon and school of creativity. Our account director Christina Chonody stayed on the sidelines in a banana-yellow dress, serving up pink lemonade, chocolate bark, and pre-portioned bags of fruit to the teams. If there’s anything we’re good at – besides advertising – it’s being well-organized when it comes to having a good time.
Team Bananas ultimately edged out Team Whiskey with a score we think was roughly seven to nothing, although not for lack of effort and enthusiasm. Team Bananas was perhaps the inevitable winner for having both Nick Paul and Matt Reinhard, but captain of Team Whiskey, Tom O’Keefe, kept his team’s energy up. Of course our game was all in good fun, as we creative advertising types don’t always get to indulge in athletic endeavors.
We spent the rest of the day after our game at Wrigley Field, having lunch at DraftKings and watching the Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves while enjoying plenty of hot dogs, peanuts and refreshing beverages – a perfect end to a summer outing for an agency bursting at the seams with Chicago pride.
